YOUR TOILET SECRET GOLDMINE
WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!
DON'T FLUSH!
Tanakawho/Flicker
Bacteria feeds on excrement and other wastes leaving behind sludge. Just so you know, that sludge is "secret goldmine" says Paul Westerhoff an Environmental Engineer at Arizona State University.
Secret goldmine better still called 'Money in Metal' as estimated by Westerhoff contains large quantities of gold, silver and other valuable metals seep into bio solids from a variety of sources such as teeth fillings and industrial processes.
Miners not targeting such metals translates to society flushing millions of naira down the drains and toiltet.
Waste Equivalence:
57 Pounds (25.86 Kg): Amount of sludge a person produces annually.
N220,000: Value of metals in a ton of sludge.
N3.2 Billion: Estimated worth of all gold and silver that could be mined annually from the waste of 1million people.
N5.2 Billion: Estimated worth of all metals that could be mined annually from the waste of 1 million people.
